Alberobello
ALBEROBELLO enjoys a transregional reputation for its conical buildings (trulli, singular trullo) – small, mostly white round houses – which were built in large numbers in this area, modelled on the construction of shepherds’ huts. In Alberobello, entire neighbourhoods are made up of trulli. This is why the town is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, but has lost much of its original charm due to the influx of tourists.
